How to Study
Step 1: Print out a blank calendar with the amount of time you have available to study.
Step 2: Count how many subjects are listed on the MOI that need to be studied. I would not count the “Essentials” that are listed below because these should be studied the entire time, ensuring they are absolutely engrained in your memory.
Step 3: List the subjects out on the calendar to remain focused on what to study on each day. Some of you may have enough time study the same subject for a few days in a row and others may have to study multiple subjects in a day. Either way this will help to maintain focus.
Step 4: Start each day by reading the pages linked on this page for your particular subject. Read each page a few times and you will be surprised how much you begin to remember. Once you have read over the subject, make a note of what questions stand out and need more attention. Place them on a flash card or print out the pages and mark each question that will need extra study time.
Step 5: Study the “Essentials” the entire time to keep them fresh in your mind. Recite things like your bio, NCO Creed, and 11 Principles of Leadership as much as possible. Reciting is best done in the car on the way to and from work.
Step 6: Have your sponsor or family/friends ask your study questions whenever possible for extra practice.
Start your studying by using the links below. Keep in mind that ArmyStudyGuide.com is outdated in some subject areas and there is guidance out that suggests Army Leadership to focus more on Army ADPs. A website called ArmyADP.com is a great resource that provides questions that follow this new guidance and I highly recommend using it. Use the MOI and your peers who have already attended the board to establish an idea on which subjects and websites to be focusing on.
