Army Board Guidance

“The board should consider the Soldier’s overall personal appearance, bearing, self-confidence, oral expression and conversational skills, and attitude when determining each Soldier’s potential to serve at the next level of NCO responsibility.” -AR 600-8-19

What is Army Board Guidance

Army Board Guidance is the only online resource that specializes in preparing for the Army’s promotion and competition boards. Did you know that answering questions correctly is only 30% of your overall evaluation at the board? That is why Army Board Guidance covers the other 70% to make you a well rounded competitor at your upcoming board.

Enlisted soldiers in the Army are most likely going to face a competition or promotion board while serving. There are plenty of websites that make a quick mention of how to prepare for one of these stressful and daunting tasks. When I was trying to prepare I found myself overwhelmed with the vast majority of information I was given from my peers and leadership. I looked online for a detailed plan to help me prepare and came up empty handed. This is why I created Army Board Guidance.

This website was built to be a resource that goes hand in hand with the ebook, The Board Bible. Reading through the ebook will provide you with all the valuable information you need to succeed and win at the board along with worksheets and guides that will keep you focused and productive.

Getting Started

Preparing for the board can be broken down into 4 separate sections. Give each section your full attention to ensure you are well rounded and prepared on the day of the board.

 #1 Administrative

The first step in getting ready for the board is to prepare the administrative paperwork that needs to be submitted to your unit. Nothing shows the board members how ate up a soldier is than an incomplete board packet.

#2 Uniform

The uniform preparation is another part of the board that needs attention early on, starting sooner rather than later will ensure you are not surprised when you have to pour yourself into your uniform.

#3 Study Subjects

Studying the subjects is the next step in the process and will be worked on until the day of the board.
